Kia Burton and Chaz Christianson are the team behind the counter at Cheesemongers of Sherman Oaks: a destination for handcrafted, cut-to-order cheese, charcuterie, and specialty foods in Sherman Oaks.
Behind every cheese is a story — a family, a history, a tradition, an art — and Kia spends her days behind the counter sharing these stories with customers. Kia maintains an extensive and dynamic cheese selection, with a rotating catalog of over 80 different artisan and farmstead cheeses. The collection focuses on small-batch and sustainably produced cheeses, all of which are rBST/rBGH free. The cheese counter showcases the very best in domestic and international cheesemaking, and Kia hand cuts each cheese to order, ensuring that its quality and condition are always exceptional.
Chaz is an expert in all things cured. The cured meats counter at Cheesemongers is one of the most comprehensive in Los Angeles, featuring some of the world’s most extraordinary prosciutto ham, serrano ham, speck, pâté, and salami. Though the shop may be named for its cheese, Cheesemongers takes great pride in their distinguished cured meats counter.
Alongside the cheeses and cured meats, Cheesemongers has assembled a collection of handmade and local crackers, jams, olives, chocolates, oils, nuts and other accompaniments. Kia and Chaz host after-hours educational cheese and charcuterie classes and special community tasting events for those interested in learning a little more.
